Per rendere più gradevole la permanenza in città di ospiti e turisti Fiera di Genova e UCINA organizzano “Progetto accoglienza” in collaborazione con la Camera di Commercio di Genova. Si tratta di un insieme di servizi che comprende bus navette da aeroporto, stazioni ferroviarie, parcheggi e dai principali alberghi cittadini verso la Fiera, il servizio di bus dal Salone al centro cittadino dedicato allo shopping e alla visita della città, la predisposizione di ‘desk Salone Nautico’ presso le reception degli alberghi, la realizzazione di un kit di accoglienza per gli ospiti della manifestazione, italiani e stranieri, contenente materiale informativo sul Salone e sulle iniziative in città’. A Palazzo Rosso, a partire dal 6 ottobre, appuntamento con “Il Tormento e l’Estasi” ovvero i San Sebastiano di Guido Reni, un meraviglioso percorso di capolavori provenienti dai più importanti musei del mondo. Sempre nelle sale di Palazzo Rosso, fino al 9 dicembre, si potrà visitare “Forma e Decorazione – Herend e la via della porcellana” la mostra espone vasellame di alta qualità artistica, proveniente da uno dei maggiori centri di produzione europei con sede in Ungheria. Al Castello d’Albertis si svolgerà la mostra “L’Anima delle piccole cose – Arte del quotidiano in Costa d’Avorio”. La rassegna offre una selezione di oggetti, scolpiti nel legno scuro della terra africana, come pettini, cucchiai, bobine per telai, martelli musicali e piccole maschere. Il Museo della Lanterna di Genova ospiterà la mostra “Storia della Nave in Bottiglia”, organizzata da Muvita e Provincia di Genova, un’affascinante rappresentazione di 30 opere, realizzate da Aidano Dallafiora a testimonianza di una grande passione.
Tra i pezzi esposti il modellino dell'Amerigo Vespucci, Nave scuola della Marina Militare, contenuta in una fiasca ottocentesca e realizzata nel 1983, la S. Maria Ammiraglia di Colombo, realizzata nel 1980 in legno naturale e la Storia della nave, lavoro complesso soprattutto per lo studio e la ricerca dei dieci modellini che vanno dalla barca di papiro del 3500 a.C. al primo piroscafo a propulsione nucleare “Savannah USA 1959”. Infine non poteva mancare un omaggio al simbolo di Genova “La Lanterna”, realizzata con mattoncini di legno dolce. La mostra si potrà visitare fino al 4 novembre 2007.

Sono i due cuccioli di foca le ultima novità che attendono il pubblico del 47° Salone Nautico all’Acquario di Genova. Nati rispettivamente da Christianne lo scorso 30 giugno con parto in acqua e da Tethy lo scorso 14 luglio, sono entrambi maschi. Il primo, già da fine luglio, ha iniziato autonomamente lo svezzamento e ora mangia il pesce mettendosi al suo posto nella “tavola” rappresentata dalle rocce dove vengono cibati anche gli altri esemplari adulti della vasca ; il secondo dovrebbe presto seguire le orme e abbandonare il latte materno.
Nella nuova area dell’Acquario denominata “Fiumi dell'Amazzonia”, viene rappresentato un tratto di un fiume amazzonico con rocce, tronchi d’albero, piante acquatiche e terrestri e diverse specie di pesci tropicali. Protagonisti sono i caimani nani di Cuvier, ma ad attendere il pubblico ci sono anche altre novità, tra le quali i nuovi percorsi di visita, che consentono ai visitatori di immergersi a tutto tondo nel mondo Costa Edutainment e riscoprire tutti i segreti e le curiosità di un luogo che non finisce mai di sorprendere ed emozionare, ma anche di educare al rispetto della natura. La mostra “Transatlantici italiani. Dall'unità d’Italia alla seconda Guerra Mondiale” al Galata Museo del Mare, fino al 12 ottobre 2007. Un viaggio a bordo delle grandi imbarcazioni a vapore, dai primi piroscafi fino alle fantastiche navi da crociera con suggestivi effetti multimediali. Lungo il percorso della mostra è allestita la nuova sala del “Piroscafo” con la riproduzione del ponte di un piroscafo ai tempi dell'emigrazione. Nella stessa sede, sempre fino al 12 ottobre la mostra “Cristoforo Colombo: marinai e mercanti” e “L’America precolombiana nella collezione Lunardi”. All’interno del Museo, inoltre, il Padiglione della Pesca, un nuovo settore dedicato alla pesca tradizionale. Per finire, esposta in via permanente, “Yachts Portrait”, la collezione di Beppe Croce, dove si possono ammirare immagini che testimoniano l'evoluzione delle barche a vela yacht dal 1832 al 1907.
"Gli spedizionieri al Galata", per il ciclo di esposizioni dedicate ai Mestieri del Mare, il Galata Museo del Mare e l'Associazione Spedizionieri Corrieri e Trasportatori di Genova presentano attraverso oggetti e strumenti originali, come era la vita concreta al Galata e come si articolava il complesso lavoro degli spedizionieri.

Nell’ambito degli eventi organizzati alla Casa Paganini, segnaliamo il Primo Concorso di Composizione per Iperviolino, organizzato dal Conservatorio di Musica di Genova in collaborazione con Casa Paganini-InfoMus Lab. Il Concorso intende dare maggiore spazio alle innovazioni della liuteria digitale e del linguaggio compositivo con le nuove tecnologie, in linea con le attività di integrazione tra ricerca scientifico-tecnologica e produzione musicale che Casa Paganini porta avanti, coerentemente allo spirito di avventura e di sperimentazione di Paganini stesso. L’esecuzione dei brani finalisti e la premiazione è prevista per Mercoledì 17 Ottobre alle ore 21.00 alla Casa Paganini in Piazza S.Maria in Passione n.34. a Genova.

Le visite ai Palazzi dei Rolli, patrimonio mondiale dell’Umanità UNESCO
Tutti i giorni dal 6 al 14 ottobre percorsi guidati per visitare e scoprire alcuni dei meravigliosi palazzi genovesi appartenenti al Sistema dei Rolli, riconosciuti dall’UNESCO Patrimonio Mondia le dell’Umanità.
Questi palazzi risultano inseriti nell’elenco che il Senato della Repubblica di Genova promulgò a partire dal 1576, detto “Rollo degli alloggiamenti pubblici”, che riuniva le dimore private più prestigiose della città destinandole all’accoglienza degli ospiti in visita di Stato. Il Rollo era suddiviso in tre bussoli, nei quali i palazzi erano inseriti a seconda della loro grandezza e bellezza. Le dimore venivano assegnate per sorteggio in base alla dignità dell’ospite: dal primo bussolo erano estratte quelle per cardinali, principi e vicerè, dal secondo per feudatari e governatori, dal terzo per principi inferiori e ambasciatori.
Questo sistema contribuì a far conoscere a livello internazionale modelli architettonici e cultura residenziale della città: artisti e viaggiatori ne rimasero incantati, e tra questi Rubens, che con la celebre e fortunata serie di incisioni I Palazzi di Genova, stampata ad Anversa per la prima volta nel 1622, diffuse i modelli abitativi genovesi in tutta Europa.

Bars and shops will stay open till late in a lively downtown Genoa on the two Saturdays during the Show, and many shops will also be open on Sunday. This initiative – promoted by Genoa City Council and numerous trade and professional associations – will involve the district shops in Corso Buenos Aires, via XX Settembre, Via Cesarea, via San Lorenzo, Via Ravecca e Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza Banchi, Porto Antico e Ripa Maris, Santa Brigida, Balbi e Principe, Nervi, San Bernardo, Teatro Carlo Felice, via Luccoli and Vico Casana. The public will also be able to enjoy theme dishes, tasting sessions and complimentary nibbles in the bars and restaurants that are taking part in the “Boat Show Happy Hour" initiative, and will have a chance to taste freshly - baked local Focaccia for the whole period of the Show near Palazzo Ducale. Last, but not least, in the second weekend of the show, visitors will be offered complimentary cocktails with appetizers by all the shops participating in this event. On Sunday 7 September, in the afternoon, from 2.30 to 7.30 pm, a circular-route shuttle will be operating between the fairground and Via XX Settembre. Moreover, all Genoa hotels will make a donation to the Italian Association against Neuroblastoma for every tourist staying at their facility on Saturday 13 October.

In Palazzo Rosso, starting on 6 October, exhibition “Il Tormento e l’Estasi” (Torment and Ecstasy), i.e. paintings of St. Sebastian by Guido Reni – a wonderful itinerary through masterpieces from the most important museums in the world. The exhibition "L'Anima delle piccole cose - Arte del quotidiano in Costa d'Avorio" (The soul of small things - Art in day-to-day life from the Ivory Coast) will be held at Castello d’Albertis. This event will feature a selection of objects carved in African dark wood, such as combs, spoon, handloom spindles, musical hammers, and small masks. The artist has portrayed in the objects the rituals and myths that are part of social and spiritual life on the Ivory Coast. On Thursday 11 October at 5.30 pm, official ceremony “Dai popoli dei totem a Genova” (From the peoples of totems to Genoa): a totem pole belonging to the Native Americans of the north-western coast will be given to Castello D’Albertis. Genoa’s Museo della Lanterna (Lighthouse Museum) will host the exhibition “Storia della Nave in Bottiglia” (History of Ships in a Bottle), where artist Aidano Dallafiora’s great passion for this form of art will be embodied by his fascinating collection of 30 works. Items on display will include the model of Italian Navy’s school ship Amerigo Vespucci, built inside a Nineteenth century flask (this work was completed in 1983), Columbus's flagship, caravel S. Maria - created in 1980 using natural wood -, and the His tory of Ships, a very sophisticated work of art, especially because of the far-reaching research carried out on the ten models, ranging from the 3,500 BC papyrus boat to the first nuclear propulsion steamer "Savannah USA 1959". And then a due tribute to the symbol of Genoa, "La Lanterna" (the lighthouse), built using small softwood bricks. The exhibition will be open until 4 November 2007.

Two seal pups are eager to welcome Genoa 47th Boat Show visitors to Genoa Aquarium. The two puppets were delivered by Christianne last 30 :-)une with water birth, and by Tethy last 14 :-)uly, respectively, and they are both males. The former started weaning independently as early as at the end of :-)uly and now eats fish taking his own place “at the table", i.e. by the rocks were all other adult seals are fed; the latter is expected to follow in his wake soon and stop being fed with on mother’s milk.
In the new area inside Genoa Aquarium called “Amazon Rivers” a stretch of an Amazon river has been reproduced, with rocks, tree trunks, aquatic and terrestrial plants, and different tropical fish species. The real protagonists will be the Cuvier’s dwarf caimans, but the visitors will find other novelties too, including new visitor routes which allow the public to fully immerse themselves in the Costa Edutainment world and to find out about all the secrets and curiosities of a place that never stops surprising and exciting the visitors, but also teaches respect for the environment. The exhibition “Transatlantici italiani. Dall'unità d’Italia alla seconda Guerra Mondiale” (Italian transatlantic ships. From the Unification of Italy to the Second World War” – held at Galata Museo del Mare, until 12 October 2007 - will be a journey onboard large steamships, from the very first passenger steamers to wonderful cruising ships, featuring impressive multimedia special effects. The exhibition will include the new “Steamer” hall, with a reproduction of the bridge of a steamer at the times of Italian migration. The Museum will also host two more exhibitions, also held until 12 October: "Cristoforo Colombo: marinai e mercanti" (Christopher Columbus: sailors and merchants) and “L’America precolombiana nella collezione Lunardi” (Pre-Columbian America from the Lunardi collection). Inside the Museum, visitors will also find the Fishing Pavilion, a new sector devoted to traditional fishing. Last but not least, a permanent exhibition: “Yachts Portrait", Beppe Croce’s collection, featuring photographs showing the evolution of sailing boats-yachts from 1832 to 1907.
“Gli spedizionieri al Galata” (Forwarding agents at the Galata), one of the Museum’s exhibitions devoted to Sea Trades, is an event organised by the Galata Museo del Mare and Genoa Carriers and Forwarding Agents Association. The Terracotta Army – a great multimedia work organised in cooperation with Sôsho International and coordinated by the Chinese artist Qikai Zhang - will be held in Piazza De Ferrari until 21 October. From 6 to 14 October, Teatro dell’Archivolto is proposing two interesting initiatives. Diario Minimo (Minimal Diary), by Giorgio Gallione, will propose a theatre-dinner for 90 people, who will be sitting around a table in the theatre auditorium, where all seats will be removed to convert it into a restaurant, where the public will listen to music and, enjoying food, and to texts by Umberto Eco. Il Mondo alla fine del Mondo (the World at the End of the World) is, instead, a stage adaptation taking inspiration from the Chilean writer Luis Sepulveda’s work. Genoa Teatro Stabile opens the 2007/08 season with The marriage of Figaro by Beaumarchais. The premiere will be on Saturday, 13 October (8.30 pm) at Teatro della Corte, in Corte Lambruschini. As part of the events organised at Casa Paganini, we would like to mention the first Composition for Hyperviolin Award organised by Genoa Academy of Music in cooperation with Casa Paganini- InfoMus Lab. This contest aims at encouraging innovation in the field of digital string instruments and the language of music composition using new technologies, in line with the activities devoted to the integration of scientific -technological research and music production that Casa Paganini is carrying out consistently with Paganini’s love for adventure and experimentation. The finalist pieces will be performed and the prize-giving ceremony will be held on Wednesday 17 October at 9.00 pm at Casa Paganini, Piazza S. Maria in Passione, 34, Genoa.

Visits to the Palazzi dei Rolli, UNESCO World Heritage Site
Every day, from 6 through 14 October, guided tours to visit and discover some of the wonderful Genoese palaces that were part of the Rolli System and which are now a UNESCO's World Heritage Site.
These palaces are listed in the so-called "Register of public accommodation facilities" issued by Genoa Republic Senate starting in 1576, which included all the most prestigious private residences, to be used to host guests during state visits in Genoa.
The Register included three different sections, in which the palaces were included depending on their size and grandeur. The residences were assigned to their guests by drawing, depending on the guest's importance: those listed in the first section were drawn to host bishops, princes, and viceroys, those belonging to the second section were drawn to host landowners, and those in the third sections were used to accommodate princes of a lower rank and ambassadors.
This system contributed to make Genoa's residential culture and architecture known at an international level: artists and travellers were enchanted - among them was Rubens who spread Genoese residential models all over Europe with his famous and successful series of engravings Palaces of Genoa, printed in Anversa for the first time in 1622.
